Activities

The AFB offers various regular activities and special events throughout the year. Please see our monthly newsletter for details and dates.

Most events are open to members of any fluency level. When a description is in French, the event itself is conducted wholly or partly in French.

Dinners & Parties:

      The AFB offers a occasional dinners or parties where you can speak French (or English). Our monthly Newsletter will let you know all about our next happening.

Conferences:

      Several times a year, the AFB offers lectures and seminars related to the French culture, either in French or in English. See our monthly Newsletter for full details.

Club Vert:

      A group of garden enthusiasts have formed "Le Club Vert". They meet occasionally to maintain the Alliance garden and share a potluck lunch while speaking French. Everyone is welcome. It is an opportunity to practice your French and to learn garden and plant vocabulary. Occasionally, Le Club Vert organizes guided tours of local private or public gardens, conducted entirely in French.

Club Cinéma:

      Once a month, the Alliance is transformed into a Parisian movie house for "Club Cinema". We host a screening of a French movie (with English subtitles) on our large screen television in the comfort of the AFB house. There is a suggested donation to cover the cost of food and wine.

Conversation:

      This large and convivial group meets the third Friday of each month form 6:30 to 8:30 PM at the Alliance. Each participant is invited to bring a dish or a bottle of wine to share. It is a great opportunity to practice speaking French in a friendly atmosphere, meet Francophones, and have fun with new friends. Everybody is welcome, but you will have to leave your English at the door!

Travel Night:

      We invite accomplished travelers to share their journeys to France or French speaking countries. Programs last about an hour, are conducted in either French or English, and are often supplemented with beautiful color slides. In the past, we have enjoyed the presentations from authors, photographers, and boutique tour operators. Whether your interests lie in walking the footpaths of France, relaxing on a barge gliding through the Midi Canal, or participating in an exotic safari to Africa, Travel Night is guaranteed to inspire your next trip and get you ready to pack your bags.
